Product viewSpiral Wound Gasket with Inner Ring
A metal inner ring supports and protects the inner edge of the winding
This design adds a metal inner ring to the basic spiral wound sealing element. The inner ring supports and protects the inner edge of the winding, helping to reduce inward deformation toward the bore. It is intended for joints where the flange geometry restrains the gasket's outer diameter and additional support is required at the inner edge.
- Inner edge supportThe inner ring supports and protects the inner edge of the winding
- Separate materialsMetal strip and inner ring can be of different materials
- Outer diameterStill confined by the mating flange
Features
- Retains the compressibility and recovery of the spiral wound sealing element.
- The inner ring supports the inner edge of the winding and improves its stability.
- The inner ring helps reduce direct exposure of the filler edge to the flow passage.
- Winding, filler, and inner ring materials can be combined to suit the medium and service conditions.
Materials & configurations
| Component / Item | Material Options and Specification Details |
|---|---|
| Winding strip — common materials | Stainless steels including 304, 316L, and 321 |
| Winding strip — special materials | Nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy C-276 (UNS N10276); nickel-molybdenum alloy B-2 (UNS N10665); commercially pure titanium Ti Gr.1 and Ti Gr.2; duplex stainless steel UNS S32205; super duplex stainless steel UNS S32750; nickel-copper alloy 400 (UNS N04400) |
| Winding strip specification | Grade, strip condition, thickness, width and forming options selected for the application |
| Filler | Flexible graphite, PTFE, mica, ceramic fiber, and other specified fillers |
| Inner ring — material options | Stainless steel; nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy C-276 (UNS N10276); nickel-molybdenum alloy B-2 (UNS N10665); commercially pure titanium Ti Gr.1 and Ti Gr.2; duplex stainless steel UNS S32205; super duplex stainless steel UNS S32750; nickel-copper alloy 400 (UNS N04400) |
| Inner ring specification | Inner ring and winding materials are selected independently, with combinations, conditions and dimensions matched to the medium and service. |
Standards & supply options
- Made to the mating flange standard or equipment drawing, with selectable dimensions, thickness, winding, filler and inner ring materials.
Typical applications
- Male-and-female, tongue-and-groove, or other confined flange joints where inward gasket deformation must be controlled.
- Industrial fluid sealing in piping, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.
- Joints subject to temperature or pressure fluctuations where winding stability at the inner edge is important.
Selection & service notes
The inner ring supports the winding while the flange restrains its outer diameter. For external centering and compression control as well, select the design with inner and centering rings. Ring configuration follows the filler and applicable standard.
Dimensions & specifications
Detailed specification tables are being prepared. Include dimensions, thickness, mating flange, materials and service conditions in your enquiry.
