Rubber gaskets are cut from natural or synthetic rubber sheet, molded, or otherwise manufactured to customer requirements. Their softness and conformability suit flanges with low available assembly loads. Resistance to water, oils, weathering, chemicals, and temperature varies significantly between elastomer types. Typical uses include utilities, low-pressure piping, and nonmetallic flange systems.
