Product viewCompressed Non-Asbestos Fiber Gasket
Chosen by sheet grade for the medium and the flange
Compressed non-asbestos fiber gaskets are cut from compressed sheet materials made from non-asbestos fibers, fillers, and binders such as rubber. Fiber type, binder system, compressibility, recovery, chemical resistance, and temperature limits vary substantially between grades. These gaskets are used for general industrial piping and equipment flange sealing.
- Sheet formulationFibers and binder determine performance
- CompressionConforms to minor irregularities of the sealing faces
- ShapesRing, full-face and special shapes
Features
- Available in ring, full-face, and custom profiles to suit the sealing face.
- Compressibility allows the material to accommodate minor flange surface irregularities.
- Different grades are available for water, steam, oils and chemicals, selected for material compatibility and service conditions.
- Performance depends on the specific grade; the term "non-asbestos" does not define a material's performance.
Materials & configurations
| Component / Item | Material Options and Specification Details |
|---|---|
| Material systems | Aramid, mineral, carbon, and other specified fibers combined with rubber binder systems |
| Configurations | Ring, full-face, and custom-cut gaskets; sheet material |
| Key properties | Material grade, thickness, density, compressibility, recovery, and chemical compatibility |
Standards & supply options
- Standard dimensions to ASME B16.21, EN 1514-1 or EN 12560-1. Sheet grade and thickness selected for service; custom profiles available.
Typical applications
- Piping for water, steam, air, and general industrial fluids.
- Pumps, valves, flanges, and utility equipment.
- Joints with low to moderate assembly loads in oil, chemical processing, marine, and power generation applications, depending on the material grade.
Selection & service notes
Select the sheet grade for the medium, temperature, pressure and assembly load. For highly corrosive service, high temperature or pressure, severe cycling or low-emission requirements, consider PTFE, graphite or semi-metallic solutions using their material performance data.
