Product viewPTFE Envelope Gasket
The PTFE envelope faces the medium; the insert gives support
A PTFE envelope gasket consists of a PTFE envelope surrounding a filler insert. The envelope provides the corrosion-resistant surface in contact with the medium, while the insert provides compressibility and support. This construction is commonly used for corrosive service and for glass-lined, FRP, and similar equipment flanges.
- PTFE envelopeIn contact with the medium; protects the insert
- InsertGives compressibility and support
- Construction optionsEnvelope style, opening direction and insert material
Features
- The wetted PTFE envelope separates the insert material from the medium.
- Envelope construction and insert material can be selected to suit the flange and assembly conditions.
- Combines the surface properties of PTFE with the compressibility of the insert.
- Available as standard circular rings and nonstandard shapes manufactured to agreed equipment dimensions and envelope designs.
Materials & configurations
| Component / Item | Material Options and Specification Details |
|---|---|
| Envelope material | Virgin PTFE or another approved PTFE material |
| Insert | Non-asbestos fiber sheet, rubber, corrugated metal, or another specified insert; insert combinations and metallic component grades selected for the service and construction requirements |
| Envelope configurations | V-type, U-type, folded, or other specified envelope constructions |
Standards & supply options
- Made to flange or equipment drawings, with selectable envelope form, opening direction, coverage, insert and joint design.
Typical applications
- Glass-lined equipment, FRP piping, and corrosion-resistant equipment flanges.
- Corrosive fluid connections in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing equipment.
- Joints requiring a PTFE wetted surface together with good compressibility.
Selection & service notes
The PTFE envelope and insert work together. Selection includes envelope integrity, opening direction, insert material, flange type and assembly load. High pressure, vacuum or cyclic service places particular emphasis on envelope deformation and flange clearance.
Dimensions & specifications
Detailed specification tables are being prepared. Include dimensions, thickness, mating flange, materials and service conditions in your enquiry.
